Benjamin (Ben) Allen is running for District Judge with a commitment to fairness, integrity, and respect for the rule of law. A lifelong Idaho resident with deep roots in Shoshone County, Ben brings decades of legal experience to the bench and a clear understanding of the responsibility entrusted to the judiciary. Throughout his career, Ben has worked at every level of Idaho’s court system. His experience as a prosecutor, civil attorney, and legal advisor to public entities has shaped a judicial philosophy grounded in impartiality, professionalism, and careful application of the law. He believes every person who enters the courtroom deserves to be heard and treated with dignity.

As an elected Prosecuting Attorney and attorney in North Idaho for more than a decade, Ben has handled cases ranging from infractions and misdemeanors to complex felony and homicide cases. He has litigated matters at every level of the Idaho court system, including the Idaho Supreme Court. This breadth of experience provides a practical, balanced perspective that is essential for the bench.

A Career Built in the Courtroom
Ben Allen’s legal career spans both criminal prosecution and civil law. As Prosecuting Attorney, he is responsible for handling criminal cases across all levels, including juvenile matters and mental commitment proceedings. He also serves as legal counsel to county officials, advising on issues of civil liability and defending the county in civil actions.
In private practice, Ben has represented municipalities, water districts, sewer districts, and other public entities, providing guidance on contracts, employment matters, statutory compliance, and governance documents. This dual experience has given him a comprehensive understanding of how legal decisions affect individuals, families, and public institutions
